Launch Buddies Media

Young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities creating media and sharing their own voices.

What we do

Twice a month, on Saturdays, Launch Buddies meet at the SDES Dream Factory Studio.

Young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities create their own media there, like videos and podcasts. They use their own voices to tell their stories and speak up for themselves.

  • A Launch Buddies session: young adults wearing headphones work together at a studio table with laptops and a microphone.
  • Studio gear on the table: a podcast mixer, a laptop, headphones and microphones.

Their voices in My Keys to the Future

Videos made by Launch Buddies appear in My Keys to the Future, a transition planning curriculum published by SDES. Students and teachers who use the curriculum see and hear young adults speaking for themselves.

Watch a recap video

In this short video (about 3 minutes), Darien and Barb Beck look back on Launch Buddies and thank the people who support the program.

The video has English captions. To turn them on, press the CC button on YouTube.

Get involved
